VectorVest.com provides technical and fundamental analyses on over 8000 US stocks with a database on these stocks that goes back for 9 years. VectorVest also provides analytical information on thousands of additional companies in Canada, Great Britain and Europe.
For every covered stock, VectorVest recommends a buy, hold or sell rating based on a proprietary model that focuses on ” safe, undervalued stocks that are rising in price.”
The website offers a cornucopia of analytics, charts and graphs, lookup capabilities, and recommendations on buying/selling. Information is available at the company, industry and sector levels. VectorVest also addresses market timing, both intra-day and at the market level.
There is a full demo available to the unregistered guest that provides an excellent overview of what the website offers.
Finally, VectorVest provides live seminars and other training aids and support, all of which are described on their website.

VectorVest Strengths
|
|
VectorVest is a well-designed and easy to use website. While the amount of information is initially overwhelming, it doesn’t take long to figure out which analytics are important for an individual investor’s style. In addition there is substantial help available for those who seek it. Customer support and education opportunities abound, and contacting VectorVest is easy and effective.
The founder and head of VestorVest is Dr. Bart DiLiddo (PHD), who has a business and mathematical background. Best of all, he is an author, so an investor can get his books and see whether they agree with his investing approach.
While reading his book(s) a potential subscriber can use VestorVest for a limited time for a small fee (current promotion). As part of this review, I registered for the introductory period and found it to be well worth the time and money, as I used this trial period to perform some health checks on my own portfolio. (Good news, VectorVest had a buy rating on 88% of my holdings!)
Finally, the expanded geographic coverage (Canada, Great Britain and Europe) is also a plus. If an individual investor is comfortable with the VectorVest approach, they have an opportunity to invest in some international stocks based on VectorVest analyses.

VectorVest Weaknesses
|

The Website is overcrowded with promotions for education/seminar/products. Subscribers have to put up with this and not lose patience, or it will detract from the value of the service.
VectorVest is another of the “black box” service providers. Subscribers have to accept the results of their proprietary approach without knowing exactly how they got there. In surfing the Internet for information on VectorVest, I found numerous investors who used this service as just an additional data point, combining it with other trading advice to make trading decisions.
The analyses have more of a trading than investing flavor. It is not geared towards the day trader, but it certainly doesn’t support a “years” investing philosophy. Subscribers would need to turn over a fair amount of their portfolio to make the subscription really pay off.
Finally, this is not a magic solution for investors who don’t want to do their homework. There is a lot of information that will support an in-depth review of individual stocks, but the decision is clearly on the shoulders of the investor.

VectorVest has it all -- analyses, broad company and geographic coverage, education and support, enhanced products for the advanced investor, etc.
As a support vehicle for making investment decisions, it can play a key role in the homework that every investor must do.
However, the analytics appear tilted towards technical factors – not fundamentals or company events or catalysts. The analytical model is proprietary, so a subscriber has to accept the results on faith – a difficult proposition for many investors!
Nevertheless, Portfolio Buzz recommends a visit to the VestorVest site, a review of the product tour and, if an investor likes what they see, registering (and paying for) the introductory offer. It’s worth it!
