TheStreet.Com is a fully transparent and open investing advisory service. There are no “black box” recommendations that depend on “proprietary” trading algorithms. In fact, contributors often disagree on how an individual stock, commodity or market might move in the future while providing the necessary logic to support their differing conclusions. This is extremely valuable for investors, who benefit from the homework done by multiple professionals. It helps to focus homework on the key catalysts and technical or fundamental issues which should drive investment decisions.
As for the subscription services, Portfolio Buzz signed up for Jim Cramer’s “Action Alerts Plus” to support this review. This subscription provides alerts regarding Jim’s Charitable Trust Portfolio. The service has been excellent! The technology works well and the alerts provide timely advice for taking stock action. In addition to the Alerts, we also received four fixed emails every day providing additional background information: the emails were titled “Before the Bell”, “After the Bell”, “Daily Booyah RealMoney Radio Recap” and “Daily Booyah ‘Mad Money” Recap”.
The real value of this subscription service is getting real time advice based on actual intra-day market movements. Other subscription services operating on the same principle would clearly be worth the money.
Of course, there are free trials for potential subscribers to help them decide if the services are right for them.
